Pebble Mine

Protecting Bristol Bay

We are currently in an public comment period, one of the few chances we all get to take direct action to protect Bristol Bay. As salmon fishermen and providers, we ask you to get on board with us and submit a comment BEFORE May 31st to the the Army Corps of Engineers telling them that their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is insufficient. The Save Bristol Bay campaign emphasizes that this DEIS “uses outdated and insufficient science, ignores important cultural and economic values, and falls substantially short of the robust analysis that the fishery, jobs, cultures and wild character of Bristol Bay call for. The Army Corps grossly underestimates the true impacts and fails to paint an accurate portrayal of the proposal. Still, the document shows the proposed Pebble mine will cause immense impacts to the Bristol Bay region, destroying more than 3,500 acres of wetlands and roughly 80 stream miles.” We agree, and we need your help!
